I dont understand! My hair keeps bleaching unevenly!!!?

I have thick, curly and frizzy black hair, and I've been trying to bleach and color it to medium brown. What I've been using is L'Oreal, one specifically for dark hair to turn to medium-light brown. So the first time I used it, it did nothing at all to my hair. Just a slight tiny barely there change... And so I bought the same one and tried again, this time only the top of my head and near where I parted my hair was lighter. And then the middle of my hair and ends were lighter too but not as light as they should be. So appearantly only the top of my head was bleached to the color on the box, even so the top of my head has corners and places where it isn't all bleached as light as most of it. Also all of my hair, especially the middle and ends where it bleached the least has some stray hairs here and there that are the "right" color. But only stray and loose hairs at the edges.... Anyway I want to know why my hair keeps bleaching so unevenly and how I can get it to bleach properly.

I dont understand! My hair keeps bleaching unevenly!!!?
are you a virgin to hair color? meaning is this your first time coloring? If so the problem is you should have had someone part head into four parts....take a color brush starting at the nape take 1/4 parts and color the hair 1/4 from regrowth to 1/4 from ends....let that process and then go back and do the regrowth and the ends...the area closet to your scalp processes faster because the warm from your head causes it to do so...the ends of the hair process faster..because they are usually porous or dry....remember color doesn't lift color...so with that said...just stop coloring with a box right now....you are going to need to make an appointment with a salon to get a color put over the whole head to balance out the color...they might even be able to throw in a few highlights to break it up...so that it won't look so dark...i hope this helps you to understand what happened
Reply:so don't bleach it, besides most beaching looks bad
Reply:QUIT doing it yourself first of all. you are going to end up looking like a calico cat. See a professional.
Reply:Here's what happened. It sound like you have color on your hair (from before you applied this new color). If not, I'm not sure why it didn't change in the midshaft of your hair. The roots lifted because of your body heat, and the ends lifted because they're so porous and damaged.

You need a protein filler before you can do anything else, because you've damagedyour hair.

You really really really need to see a stylist - she's going to have to do a corrective color service on you.

When will people ever learn that bleaching and lifting is best left to the professionals?
Reply:the hair that's closest to your scalp bleaches faster b/c:

1. it is new growth and has not been processed before

2. it is closer to the scalp, which means that the temperature of your scalp speeds the lightening chemical reaction. you are supposed to do your roots last when bleaching your hair.
Reply:Don't bleach your hair. Your hair will get dry and even more frizzy!!!!!!!!!!
Reply:It sounds like you have been putting it on wrong. If you have been starting at the top near your scalp first then that is why that part is lighter. The hair next to your head lightens faster because it is new hair and your scalp produces heat which makes the hair lighten faster. Since you said that the hair near your scalp is the color you wanted, you should get more of the same color that you used and take it to a salon and have them fix it. They can section the hair off and get it more of an even color. They probably won't even put it on the hair next to your scalp. They need to lighten the rest of your hair to match the root area. Good luck
