Would bleaching my hair ruin it?

Right now my hair is dyed dark brown and i want to dye it blood red. i would probably have to bleach it first but everyones telling me that it will ruin my hair and turn it to straw. should i bleach it or is there another way to lighten my hair with out bleaching it?

Would bleaching my hair ruin it?
Yes bleaching is horrible for your hair. No if you want to dye your hair a "color color" like red, blue, green etc. you will have to bleach it for it to be true.
Reply:lemon juice lightens it a lot. put lemon juice in then go into the sun. u might have to do it more than once, to get it that light but it works!
Reply:duh
Reply:It would definitely ruin it and I'm not even sure if those restoring shampoos would help. I'm not totally sure about anotehr way to lighten your hair so I won't give you a tip on that one.
Reply:Bleaching is horrible!
Reply:get it done at the salon. u might damage ur hair doing it at home coz the colour u chose is a bit extreme so dont take chances
Reply:You will have to bleach it to get a strong red color. It will damage your hair, it will dry it out. But as long as you haven't done too much coloring %26amp;/or perming to it lately, %26amp; use a good professional shampoo, conditioner, %26amp; treatment, than it should be ok - as long as you don't mind your hair not being in as good condition as it is now.
Reply:Well I hope you don't bleach your hair on your own because your dark brown hair is not going to lift to blonde on its own. It will first lift to an orange like color and if you bleach your hair too long you'll strip its pigment and it will be a grayish color. Use a good deep conditioner once a week, maybe even everyday. It couldn't hurt. Also you might try sleeping in that deep conditioner.
Reply:Bleaching your hair would ruin it. It's like the worst thing ever to do to your hair. And you'll never be able to get your original color again.
