Bleaching your hair?

why do people keep saying all this notorious stuff about bleaching your hair, about how your hair will be severely damaged...your hair will break/ fall out...etc

two days ago I bleached my dark brown hair to orange. I left the bleach in for around 60mins. it wasn't light enough so yesterday I bleached it again, for 90 mins. and then I dyed it purple. so I bleached and rebleached it. my hair's fine, it didn't fall out, its not breaking apart.

Bleaching your hair?
You are lucky. Bleaching is the most damaging process you can do to your hair. On hair that has not been previously treated with any process you probably can get away with a couple of bleaches without too much damage but just wait. The more you treat the hair the weaker the hair gets. Keep treating it like you have and you won't notice it at first, the small hairs breaking off. You won't notice right away that your hair is getting thinner. But one day you'll be brushing your hair and realize that about a third is missing, and you'll see all the short hairs where they broke. If you continue bleaching, make sure you ONLY do the roots when you do touchups - ask any pro and they will tell you that. Or look forward to having a lot less hair.
Reply:if you only bleach it a few times it wont break but if you keep doing it it will get thin and break
Reply:If you do that too many times and perm your hair in between, it will fall out.

You have not bleached each time. You have added color.

It damages the hair shaft each time you bleach it. If you left it on for 90 minutes, the bleaching action stops at 60. There is only so much color you can remove..
Reply:Yeah.. uh bleached hair... or chemically altered hair starts to become real brittle... and it just begins to feel nasty. Bleach takes all of the silkiness out of your hair that comes from the natural oils in your hair.

So your hair becomes dry, less bouncy, less resilient, and more prone to fall out, more susceptible to damage.

But whatever, its your hair, keep bleaching it.

I hear the Hair Club for Men needs new members.
Reply:every ones hair is different, yours may not be damaged as much as some others, but some people have very delicate hair. I have seen people who have bleached their hair to the point that it breaks when they brush it. i think sometimes that people exagerate.
