How long between bleaching and coloring should I wait...?

I'm planning on going from a currently dark-brown color (which is half-natural, half accidentally dyed darker about a year ago; was supposed to go blue, ended up black, and the black won't go away, bah!) to a bright burgundy-red-color.

I'm told I should first bleach it out so the red shows up brighter, because that's very much what I want, but I worry about what I'll look like as a bleach-blond (I'm very fair-skinned in the way that's sometimes called "glow in the dark", hah, and mildly gothic, and I assume bleach-blond!me will look sickly and blah). Is it okay to bleach and then right away add the red, or should I wait a week, or even longer?

I'm not sure what bleaching I'm going to use, but the red dye I've already bought, and it's "Revlon ColorSilk, Burgundy (48)", if any of that matters. :)

First off, I wouldn't suggest bleaching your hair before dying or red from brown. The reason being is because the red hair dye will show up over the brown and because the bleach damages your hair really bad. However, it will show up brighter. Anyways, you can dye the red right after bleaching it. Just try to put a deep conditioner in it between the blonde and the red.
Reply:i would never bleach any type hair just get it colored

bleaching your hair can be dangerous to your roots
Reply:eh i bleached my hair and added red the same day and my hair was fine id say go for ittt dood.

you got myspace?

www.myspace.com/cyanidscars is me add me you seem pretty rad.
Reply:I would not bleach your hair especially if you are so fair skinned. If you burn easily in the sun bleach will burn your scalp. Why not just use the color and as the old color fades you will become more and more red.

Call a local salon too they may tell you.
