Why Do Black People Judge Skin Bleaching?

i am simply wondering...once i bleached an iron burn but i'm not into skin bleaching...but i don't see anything wrong with it.

about 90% of BLack women perm their hair (or more)

they are making their hair straight so it may look more like a caucasian person's hair...it is a form of assimilation

when someone perms their hair they must constantly flat iron it to upkeep it

whereas skin bleaching is frowned on because it is a more obvious form of assimilation. a person bleaches their skin for at least 2 weeks to show some kind of result to lighten their skin

if anything skin bleaching is better than hair perms. IF i bleached my skin i could go sit in the sun all day and be brown again. if i perm my hair i must wait like 2-4 months for the permed hair to grow out.

Why Do Black People Judge Skin Bleaching?
I'm trying to lighten my skin because I do want to be lighter. Let's face it, lighter skin women are most wanted, looked at as prettier in the black race because their complexion is close to white people's color. Even in show business, lighter black women make it more, their the most successful, and considered the most beautiful. Dark isn't very attractive. Black people are very self-hating. We try so hard to look white. The only thing black people are proud of is their butts but they want to look white, straighten nose, straighten hair, wear blonde weaves, wear blue and green eye contacts. It's funny white women are getting lip injections, butt implants, and darkening their skin to look black but blacks are trying to look white because our features were always made fun of yet white women have them and because they have them their considered beautiful.
Reply:From your picture, you look like just got out of the bleach tub.
Reply:It's called national pride. Though I'm not black. And I think black pigment should be healther than white because it safeguards around the sun.
Reply:I don't see anything wrong with using bleaching products to clear scars or imperfections. Nor do I see anything wrong with using them for aesthetic purposes. The problem comes in when one bleaches their skin because they are filled with self-hatred.
Reply:well if you're bleaching an iron burn, then i don't see nothing wrong with that at all.
Reply:That's funny. Black people bleaching their skin, and white people going to tanning salons.

People are going to do whatever they think makes them more attractive. What I don't understand is people, especially women who tattoo themselves, or get piercings. Does anyone think that makes them attractive?
Reply:I don't see anything wrong with bleaching skin discolorations. Because being out in the sun a lot, can change your skin tone permanently sometimes. Because who wouldn't their skin to be even toned all over their body. But if they are just doing it be lighter skinner, then that's ridiculous. Love yourself no matter what. And when I perm my hair, I don't do it so that my hair will look like a white person's hair. Even when permed, there's still an obvious difference in texture between our hair and theirs.
Reply:the problem begins when people do things for cosmetc reasons...there's nothing wrong with bleaching to fade scars...but i personally do not agree with bleaching to be something youre not...and perming/relaxing your hair...well everyone has their reasons for it..i for one relax my hair because its more manageable for me cos i wouldnt have time to maintain it otherwise....and im sure many other ppz get extension etc for the same reasons....as long as your not trying to be something your not...there nothin wrong with...cos when you try to be something your not thats when superficiality starts to creep in...
Reply:I didn't realize anyone actually bleached their entire bodies. But I can see why that would be frowned upon. I know lots of people who bleach their scars or dark spots to make them less noticeable.

Honestly I don't think anyone would go through the trouble of applying all of that creme all over their body just to get a little bit lighter, but I say to each his own. I never complain about people trying to assimilate so long as they don't complain about me lacking that desire.
Reply:Look we relax our hair because we want to and why are so many white women getting tans, lip implants, butt implants and some of white women have to get relaxers because they want to . Perms are for white women ;black women get relaxers. Please get knowledgeable about black women period. See people like you have a problem with themselves learn to love yourself then you want have to worry about anyone else.
Reply:skin bleaching is evidence of self hatred.
Reply:makybe they use perms to keep their hair okay. Caucasians I know have thick, nappy hair. I don't want hair like that. If you like bleaching go for it, just don't kill yourself. idc
Reply:Blacks frown upon skin bleaching because it is indeed a form of self hatred; why else would you bleach your skin besides not loving it? Bleaching a scar to even out your tone is not the same as bleaching your skin to be lighter. Skin bleaching is low self esteem plain and simple. People who do that obviously feel that lighter skin is better or more beautiful; they are not light enough and therefore are not beautiful enough. And yes bleaching creams and soaps are indeed dangerous. Many of the products contain mercury which over time contribute to kidney failure, and others contain corticosteroids and hydroquinone which thin out the skin.

Secondly 90% of black women do not relax their hair, the numbers have been estimated at 75%, that is a big different by a few millions. Furthermore, I cant speak for you, but for most black women who relax their hair it has absolutely nothing to do with trying to be white. It has everything to do with the ease of styling and versatility. Black women generally do not wear hair styles typical of European women, if it were about "being white" we would not wear the unique styles that we do wear and that many other races have mimicked (cornrows, braids, twists, up do's...) I know that when I go to my BLACK beauty salon, the women in the hair books are BLACK. Furthermore, relaxers are not exclusive to black women. I know plenty of hispanic, jewish, and white women with frizzy hair who wear relaxers.

Moreover, when a black woman relaxes her hair why assume she is trying to be European? Europeans are not the only group of people with fine hair. Who's to say they are not trying to be Latina, Indian, or Asian? For one thing any black woman will tell you that hair that is too straight it difficult to style and is undesirable to black women. Most would prefer to have a medium texture or curly hair which is more manageable and versatile.

And my last point to make is why is it that when a black woman chooses to relax or dye her hair she is assimilating? What of a white woman with curly hair who straightens it, or a white woman with brown hair who dyes it. I think it is terrible that we as black women are damned if we do and damned if we don't. I relax my hair monthly, I have had it highlighted red, and have had it dyed brown; but I love being a black woman. And I would never lighten my beautiful mahogany skin.
Reply:What's wrong with the skin you were born with? Why would you want to f*ck up your skin all over? Who's standard of beauty are you trying to fit?

Answer those questions and then maybe I'll stop "judging"
