Bleaching?

I've been told I have the option of having my hair bleached then toned to remove unwanted colour. Anyone who has had their hair bleached could they tell me what it did to their hair, whether they would recommend it etc.

I am a natural light blonde by the way but my hair is now an orangy shade of red :S

thanks xxxxx

Bleaching?
Try a color remover instead of bleach to remove unwanted color, it isnt as harsh, it is designed to remove hair color from your hair, bleach is designed to lighten your natural hair...if you had colored your hair darker than its natural it will be best to use a color remover instead of bleach.
Reply:All bleaching did to me was make the hair lighter, we had to bleach it for a while though so it was a little dry but it gets back to normal quickly. I would recommend it.
Reply:Bleaching your hair strips the natural oils of your hair. Resulting in dry, coarse hair that does'nt shine. But if this is your first and only time that you would bleach it i shouldnt think it would be a problem. I would do it just to get back to your natural colour as you wouldnt have to do your roots again if youre already light blonde anyway. Good luck x
Reply:Dont bleach your hair the bleach will probably damage it really bad just get a whole bunch of highlights then work from there because if you just bleach right off your gonna ruin your hair ....you should deff. get your hairstylist to help you
Reply:Bleaching your hair is lifting any color from your hair. The longer it is on your hair the more color lifted. I decided a few years ago I wanted to go for the platinum blonde (Gwen Stefani blonde) look. In order to get that they put bleach in my hair. Warning, It burns like hell on your scalp. It also is a little damaging because it's taking away from each strand. I would recommend going to a reputable hair salon and getting a consultation. Consultations are usually free.
Reply:Just to give you a pointer, Bleach dries your hair out... A LOT!!

Go easy on the bleach, but since your hair is icky orange, I say bleach it using 20 or 30 volumizer and then dye it close to your natural so you can let your hair mend it self back together. Plus as summer is approaching, you will probably lighten up.

Hope this helps!! Good Luck!!
Reply:hey, yup I've bleached my hair tonnes of times from brown to blonde, black to blonde and most recently red to blonde, ( see a blonde loving trend here?!) but a word of warning would firstly be to have it done professionally. Your hair will get damaged no matter what, but a professional will help to minimise this damage. Toner will be used to get the hair to the desired shade as any kind of red shade is very difficult to lift so the bleach may not bring the colour up as "blonde" as you may like by itself. Toners vary in strength so also can potentially be a little damaging.

Your hair will become dry so it is important to invest in good conditioning products. Ones that contain keratin are the best as protein will help build up the strength of the hair.

You may also suffer some damage with hair breakage - most noticeable when in the shower or when blowdrying your hair - again, this highlights the importance of a professional approach who can help limit the breakage.

If you are having an "all over" bleach job, it can burn the scalp so it is important to take care when selecting dye (if doing it yourself) as some are not designed to use on the scalp. I had mine done platinum blonde about 2 weeks ago and my scalp is still a little itchy!

To maintain your blonde colour try using a silverising shampoo - purple in colour but don't be alarmed. Purple is the opposite of yellow on the colour chart so these shampoos are excellent at removing yellow tones that can be caused by product build-up etc.

Although all these points may sound a little worrying, if done correctly, bleaching of the hair can leave amazing results - just look at Gwen Stefani!

Personally, I would go for it - I'm now settled at blonde and all the hassle that goes with it is worth it!

Hope this helps

Reply:A toner will neutralize unwanted tones in the hair, but if your hair is darker than the blond shade you want it to be then you need to bleach it, I reccommend that you see a professional, as beach is very strong chemical, and could turn hair that is in okay health to really damaged.( Melting.) It is not something you can totally put on the head like a box of color, without seeing some negative results. The fact that your hair is two different colors, proves that putting one color over it will not produce an even result. Even with bleach, the bleach has to sit on the orange spots, longer than the gold spots. And less time than the roots. Do it yourself? oh no. Here we have the question of weather you want your hair to be pretty or ugly.
Reply:bleaching should b done by a pro

it makes your hair lighter

it dries your hair

once u have it done once you'll want it again because it will LOOK better but u'll need a lot of conditioning products etc to maintain it

i used to have beautiful brown hair but bleached it and i've been spending the last few years trying to get it back to the original condition!

why do we always what what we don't have!??!!
