Getting white face cloths white again - bleach?

I am a bleach neophyte!

My 3 year old uses white face cloths at our dinner table, so needless to say, they are no longer white.

I am wondering if I can bleach them, even though they say "no bleach"?

What will happen if I bleach them, even if they say "no bleach"?

How do I use the bleach, do I put them in a bucket and let them soak? If so, for how long?

Any other ideas how to get my white face cloths white again?

If they are the towel like kind I'm pretty sure they say no bleach because it's meant to reduce the softness and absorbency. I use bleach on my white towels and add vinegar instead of softener so they don't go too rough. I just use the soak cycle on my washing machine so I guess that is about 1-2 hours!? Apparently putting them in the dryer instead drying in the sun makes them softer too.

Or if they are really stubborn stains, like blood on the sheets i use a combination of washing powder, napisan, preen laundry spray and bleach. That seems to get everything out!!!!

You could always just test it out on one face cloth and see what happens!
Reply:Personally, I'm not a big fan of bleach. It can be caustic if you let items soak for too long and can turn white fabrics yellow rather than white. Since the introduction of OxyClean to the market, that has been my cleaner of choice for stain removal. It seems to work on everything.
Reply:there are good non caustic products out there, i use baby diaper detergent DREFT and you can soak them for several hours, also after they are soaked you can add a small amount of Bluing, thats what makes whites look white and not yellow due to bleaching
