Bleaching?

Is there any method of putting color in my hair that does not involve bleaching at all or a very little amount of bleach?

It depends on what you are trying to do. Bleaching is used for lightening the hair. Once bleached you can put on a toner or a lighter color to achieve the desired results. If your natural color is very dark, you will more than likely need to pre-lighten it with bleach before you can put on any other color. If you are just looking for highlights, which would also lighten up your color if you do them heavily you may look into a high lift tint instead of bleach.

Also there other options such as Henna which coats the hair instead of actually dying it. Feria works that way as well.





If you are concerned about effects of strong chemicals, it would be best for you to speak with a reputable salon stylist to explain how each option works, as well as what the negative and positives are for each.

Reply:If you want to go darker, no bleach is needed at all. Going lighter requires a certain amount of bleach. The lighter you go the more bleach is used. You could read the label on the box of colors, they will tell you how much lighter your hair will appear using that product.
Reply:Um, I dye my hair all the time without bleaching it...it's not completely necessary. If you use permanent, it will lighten your hair, instead of just bonding to it like semi/demi-permanents. My hair went from jet black to red (it's naturally black) without any bleach...
Reply:If your hair is black or very dark brown and you're trying to go lighter-you have to use bleach. Darker, no problem.

unless you have fair colored hair, you can use a Henna, its a vegetable dye that wears off.





Dark hair to "take color " the hair color must be "lifted/ bleached" out to apply another color on top of it.


Spray on fun colors are not bleaches, so that just wash out stuff.

Reply:you could use a wash in colour i just got one and i love it and it washes out in six weeks and it leaves a little bit of colour in it so its not bleach p.s you can get the best ones at super store
