Can bleaching your hair damage the hair root and make your hair crappy forever?

Like if the bleach gets on your scalp and stays there for the whole duration of the bleaching? I have brown hair, so it might take a while.

If it is on your scalp too long, you're hair will actually burn off at the scalp. This is why it doesn't go on the scalp. It can leave you totally bald. To answer your question, it won't damage the root, just the outside. If your hair turns out crappy, it will be that way until it grows all the way back out. New hair growth will be normal. Don't put the bleach on your scalp! You DO NOT want your hair to break off.

Reply:Yes, if you over-process the hair. Avoid your scalp, dont leave it on the hair too long, bleach acts quickly on the hair. Make sure you read the manufacturers instruction properly, or just go to the hairdressers.
