How long after bleaching my hair can I recolor it?

I, like a dummy, died my med. blonde hair to a darker brown which turned black. I was mortified with the results and I bleached my hair to a nearly yellow-white-dull orange. Several hours later I dyed it with a permanent med. blonde color by Feria. The color didn't take at all and I still have my bleached blonde look which isn't appealing at all. I have been using extensive deep conditions that contain keratin proteins with every wash, so my hair isnt actually into too bad of shape. So when can I recolor my hair with a permanent dye to a more natural blonde and actually have the hair absorb the color?? Also, does bleaching do something to the pores of my hair, and thats why the color didnt take?

How long after bleaching my hair can I recolor it?
Well bleach basically kills the color off your hair.

But I don't really know what to do in your case.

If I were you, I would consider going to a good hairstylist, it may be expensive but it's worth it.

:)
Reply:I think its time you call the salon.

Next time you color it and its too dark, wash it with dawn dishsoap with some baking soda mixed it to remove the color. Don't bleach it!
Reply:STOP IN THE NAME OF BEAUTIFUL LOCKS! dont do anything else yourself hun, call the salon...a GOOD salon. yeah, yeah it might be pricey but it's worth getting your hair back. good luck!
Reply:If you've bleached your hair then using toner to get closer to the colour you want instead of of dying it; it'll make it a more natural colour

Instead of using Feria I'd suggest using Loreal Castings, it works with your current colour instead of giving it a whole new colour

Bleaching your hair does mean that the colour wont take as well because it basically opens up the pores in your hair. Give it a few weeks, wash it regularly and try dying it again
Reply:Being the Sally's whore, as well as bleached hair expert that I am(lol) I shall help you. I fried the heck out of my hair bleaching it. I used this stuff http://www.sallybeauty.com/Mega+Choleste...

and it seriously made my hair SUPER healthy and it's like 3 bucks for a big tub.

I recommend that you use either toner, to make your hair the shade of blonde you'd like, or use Ion brand hair color. I personally like the liquid.

However, ALL of the employees at Sally's are cosmologists so you can ask them for their advice.

Best of luck to you!
Reply:GO TO A SALON!!! i went through the exact same thing a year ago and tried to recolor my orange hair soooo many times but no color seemed to take....so i finally decided to go to a salon and have them fix it...it was expensive but definiely WORTH IT
Reply:I would use a semi-permanent..and do a med brown with some gold tones.... Semi's are easy on the hair...Bleach makes your hair porous(full of holes) you need to apply the semi to your roots and leave it, if you dont have roots then put the color all over and avoid the last inch inch and a half of the hair shaft, if you do have roots then apply to the roots leave a lil longer then apply almost to the end then the last ten min comb through and apply the remaining color to the ends of your hair, old hair is most likely going to take to the color faster because of the prior treatments. It will also fade a lil faster too, but you don't want blackish ends and brown roots...also please make sure you get some gold tones in the brown or your hair will be green.
Reply:Go to a professional and be prepared to pay a hefty amount to have the color corrected. By the way, not all of the people who work at Sally's are cosmetologists. Most are just retail folks who happen to work at a beauty supply store.
