Bleaching hair?

what does bleaching you hair do because i want to color my hair auburn kinda so should i dye it or bleach it because i have black hair and i had a rinse before but i could only get red and i dont want red in my hair

Bleaching takes pigments out of your hair.





If you add another color onto black, it won't show up, believe me.





The only thing you can do is bleach it.. and chances are it will turn orange.





Use Herbal Esscences 'Blonded by the Light' bleach blonde kit. It's the only thing that really has worked for me.





Use that one time.. do the strand test. Always always.





You should also get a hair cut/trim before coloring your hair so it's less damaged and you have less to bleach.





After using one box, you should let your hair rest for one week, and use a very very very extensive conditioning treatment everyday.





After that week, if your hair is still orange, use the same product again and do another strand test first to see your time.





Your hair should turn reallyreallyreally light blonde, not yellow.


If it's yellow your hair will turn green with the auburn color.











Your safest bet is to do the bleaching thing at home (if you don't have 400 dollars or so to get it done at a salon) and wait a few weeks with blonde hair, and then go to a salon for a temporary auburn color.





They know how to turn blonde hair auburn/brown/anything without any green color. It shouldn't be over 80 dollars if your hair is an inch or two below shoulder length.

Reply:my hair is naturly thick and long (past my waist) and its naturly black/brown... it took me 7 pouches off hair powder, one bag of it and two bottels of the bleach, then the actual hair dye of blond went on after that... took about a week when it was only ment to be a night but its blond now and not red/ginger at all. it does harm it so use lots or conditioner! also have you herd of 'sun in'? its spray u put in that reacts to heat and makes it lighter each time u blow dye ect.

Reply:all bleach does is mess up your hair, try a natural dye like putting lemon in your hair, it'll lighten it up.
